Itinerary

Day 1- 3CENTRAL KALAHARI GAME RESERVE

Upon arrival at Maun Airport, guests will be met by a Fundani Tours representative and transferred by light aircraft to the border of the Central Kalahari Game Reserve. The Central Kalahari covers an area of 52 800km, making it the 2nd largest game reserve in the world. The ecosystems, wildlife and landscapes in the Central Kalahari Game Reserve differs very much to what guests would experience further north in the Okavango regions.

A variety of species are more prolific here than elsewhere in Botswana; such as the brown hyena, aardwolf, oryx, bat-eared fox and ostrich. January through to April is the best time to visit the Kalahari. During this rainy, ‘green season’ in Botswana, the beautiful interdune valley become lush with vegetation, attracting thousands of springboks and gemsbok (oryx), a good number of ostriches, herds of wildebeest as well as giraffe.

Whilst here, guests can explore the Kalahari wildlife on day and night game drives or enjoy an excursion with the local San Bushmen. The day is rounded off with dinner under the stars listening to the sounds of the African bush.

Overnight at Evolve Back Gham Dhao Lodge – Fully Inclusive.

Day 4- 6OKAVANGO DELTA

A scheduled light aircraft will transfer guests into the heart of the Okavango Delta, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The Okavango Delta is affected by seasonal flooding with flood water from Angola reaching the Delta between March and June, peaking in July. This peak coincides with Botswana’s dry season resulting in great migrations of plains game from the dry hinterland.

Kanana Camp is situated in a private concession on the Xudum River, south west of the Okavango Delta under a shade of palm, fig and ebony trees. This 5-star camp is a true paradise with a myriad of birds, plants and wildlife. Kanana hosts a seasonal heronry, making it a bird watcher’s paradise, with regular sightings of Pel’s fishing owl. Other activities at the camp include tracking on open game drive vehicles and exploring the delta waterways on a motor boat or mokoro. A sleep-out deck, on the edge of the vast floodplain, offers adventurous guests a night under the splendid African sky.

Overnight at Kanana Camp – Fully Inclusive.

Day 7-9CHOBE NATIONAL PARK

This morning guests will be transferred by light aircraft to Kasane Airport, the part of the country where all 4 countries – Zambia, Namibia, Botswana and Zimbabwe – meet. A safari vehicle will transfer them to Chobe Game Lodge. This is the only permanent game lodge situated within the famous Chobe National Park, one of Botswana’s premier venues for guests to explore Chobe National Park and the Chobe River.

Chobe Game Lodge is one of those iconic African properties which tie into the unique combination of location, luxury and elegance. It was the first property in Botswana to introduce electric game viewing boats, vehicles and among the first lodges to be fully Eco certified. Chobe Game Lodge also boats a fully qualified and the only all-female guiding team in Africa. The lodge is Botswana’s premier venue for guests looking for a perfect base from which to explore the national park and the Chobe River. This 5-star lodge has full eco-grading by the Botswana Tourism Board. Chobe Game Lodge is designed as a haven of peace and privacy – where relaxation is effortless, and you can enjoy your own space. The Lodge also caters for travellers with disabilities

Guests can enjoy morning and afternoon game drives which follow the course of the Chobe River as your experienced guide interprets the bush signs and tracks in search of the resident wildlife. Or relax on a sunset river cruise, getting up close and personal with the vast array of the aquatic wildlife.

Overnight at Chobe Game Lodge – Fully Inclusive.

Day 10-11VICTORIA FALLS, ZIMBABWE

Guests will be transferred by vehicle across the border to Victoria Falls Zimbabwe. The transfer will take approximately 2.5 hours, depending on border crossing time. The Victoria Falls Hotel is situated in the Victoria Falls National Park, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The famous Victoria Falls are just a 10 minute walk away, using the hotel’s private pathway. “The smoke that thunders” or Mosi-oa-Tunya in the local dialect is clearly audible and visible from this luxurious landmark.

Overnight at Victoria Falls Hotel – Breakfast.

Day 12DEPARTURE

Guests enjoy breakfast before they are collected and transferred to the airport in time for any onward arrangements.
