Itinerary

Day 1 | Tuesday Travel from CAPE TOWN to OUDTSHOORN via ROUTE 62 (approximately 420km) 

Guests will journey inland along Route 62 to Oudtshoorn. Enjoy lunch and wine tasting (both at your own expense) during the trip. The group is expected to arrive in the late afternoon. Dinner will be on your own in town. 

Overnight at Queens Hotel or a similar accommodation – Breakfast included. 

Day 2 | Wednesday  FULL DAY in OUDTSHOORN 

At sunrise, guests can take a brief hike to observe meerkats in their burrows (at your own expense and weather permitting). After breakfast, the group will visit the Cango Caves, a local success story (time allowing), followed by a visit to an ostrich farm. Lunch will be at your own expense before embarking on a guided tractor tour. Guests will also have the opportunity to visit the CP Nel Museum (at your own expense). The afternoon is free for leisure activities before dinner in town (own expense). 

Overnight at Queens Hotel or a similar accommodation – Breakfast included. 

Day 3 | Thursday Travel from OUDTSHOORN to GRAAFF-REINET (approximately 320km) 

The tour heads to the historic town of Graaff-Reinet. Guests will enjoy a guided tour of the Valley of Desolation and the “Cathedral of the Mountains” in Camdeboo National Park. Dinner will be at the hotel (own expense). 

Overnight at Drostdy Hotel or a similar accommodation – Breakfast included. 

Day 4 | Friday Travel from GRAAFF-REINET to ADDO (approximately 238km) 

After breakfast, guests can take a stroll through town, which features numerous national monuments. Lunch will be at your own expense during the journey to the Zuurberg mountains. Dinner will be served at the hotel. 

Overnight at Zuurberg Mountain Village or a similar accommodation – Dinner and breakfast included. 

 

Day 5 | Saturday ADDO ELEPHANT NATIONAL PARK 

After breakfast, guests will set off for a full day of game driving in Addo Elephant National Park, with a lunch break in the park. After a day of adventure, guests will return to the hotel for dinner before settling in for the night. 

Overnight at Zuurberg Mountain Village or a similar accommodation – Dinner, lunch, breakfast, and a game excursion included. 

 

Day 6 | SundayTravel from ADDO to KNYSNA through TSITSIKAMMA FOREST (approximately 360km) 

The journey begins towards the Garden Route, with a stop at Storms River for a brief walk to the suspension bridge. Lunch will be at your own expense in the Tsitsikamma Forest. Later, guests can enjoy a sunset cruise featuring Knysna oysters (weather permitting) to the Knysna Heads. Dinner will be at the hotel (own account). 

Overnight stay at The Rex Hotel or a similar accommodation – Breakfast included. 

Day 7 | MondayFREE DAY IN KNYSNA

This day is yours to enjoy at your own pace. Guests may choose to explore the Featherbed Nature Reserve (own account, including lunch). A buffet lunch is available at the Forest Restaurant. Dinner will also be at the hotel (own account). 

Overnight stay at The Rex Hotel or a similar accommodation – Breakfast included. 

Day 8 | Tuesday  Journey from KNYSNA to HERMANUS via CAPE AGULHAS (approximately 540km) 

The tour sets off with a quick stop in Swellendam, and if time allows, guests can sample local farm products (own account). Lunch will be at your own expense during the trip. At the southernmost point of Africa, visit the Map of Africa monument and the Cape Agulhas Lighthouse Museum. Dinner will be at your own expense. 

Overnight stay at Arabella Spa & Hotel or a similar accommodation – Breakfast included. 

 

Day 9 | Wednesday Travel from HERMANUS to CAPE TOWN via FRANSCHHOEK (approximately 190km) 

After breakfast, guests will depart for Franschhoek. Enjoy lunch (own account) before visiting the Drakenstein Correctional Centre, the site of Nelson Mandela’s release. The tour concludes upon arrival in Cape Town.
