Itinerary

Day 1 – 4LOWER ZAMBEZI NATIONAL PARK

Upon arrival at Lusaka, guests will be met by a representative and transferred by light aircraft to Jeki airstrip in the Lower Zambezi National Park.

Guest accommodation for the next 4 nights will be spent at Anabezi Camp. Built on the foundations of the renowned site of Ana Tree Lodge, Anabezi Camp is made up of 12 spacious, secluded tents, raised on timber platforms giving a magnificent view of the park.

A real highlight of staying within the Lower Zambezi is the combination of both land and water-based activities on offer. With over 500 bird species, including the majestic Ground hornbill, African skimmers, and Roufous-Bellied herons, the guides will show guests what to look for while regaling them with fascinating facts and information. 4WD vehicles make it easy for guests to follow the animals as they spend their days roaming around the Lower Zambezi National Park plains, and relaxing in the sun.

The Zambezi River is the fourth largest river in Africa, and how better to explore it than by canoe. Each canoeing trip is led by an experienced Situated on the west side of the Nankumba Peninsula on the southern end of Lake Malawi guests will find Pumulani subtly nestled in the lush hills amongst the trees and craggy outcrops. The 10 villas provide the ultimate in space, design, comfort and privacy. The name Pumulani means “rest well” in the local Chichewa language, and that’s exactly what is offered – the chance to unwind in a beautiful and tranquil setting.

Guests can relax on the sandy beach or enjoy an elevated view of the lake from the stylish infinity pool. For those seeking some activity there is water-skiing, sailing, kayaking, walks in the hills, sunset cruises on hand-built dhows and snorkelling and diving. Underwater activities never fail to amaze as the diversity of fish life is very surprising and experts say that this lake is home to more native fish species than any other in the world. Guests can also take a guided walk from the lodge up into the hills enjoying the views and beauty as well as the wonderful birdlife. Coming down from the hills to the lake shore a kayak will meet them there for a gentle paddle back. Cycling is also a great experience, cycle down the hill from the lodge through the village and around the point where the kayaks will meet you for your paddle back.

Alternatively, simply enjoy the peace and quiet and relax under the shade of a parasol or tree on the beach with a good book! Each villa has a large bedroom, which opens out onto a private deck where early risers can enjoy the morning’s first rays.

Overnight at Pumulani – Fully Inclusive.

Day 5 – 8SOUTH LUANGWA NATIONAL PARK

After breakfast guests depart via scheduled flight from Jeki Airstrip to Mfuwe Airport in South Luangwa National Park.

The South Luangwa National Park marks the end of the Great Rift Valley, one of the last remaining unspoilt wilderness areas and

possibly the finest wildlife sanctuary in Africa – a claim which is not an overstatement. It is through this 9 050km² national park that the great meandering Luangwa River runs, with its ox bow lagoons, tributaries, riverine supported woodlands and large plains, all of which play host to huge concentrations of game including elephant, buffalo, leopard, lion, giraffe, hippo and over 450 species of birds.

Situated in the exclusive Nsefu Sector Tena Tena sits nestled under a magnificent and thick grove of mahogany trees. On a double tiered river bank each room enjoys its own private view onto a long stretch of the Luangwa River. The 6 tents are very private with plenty of space between them and each with its own window onto a magnificent stretch of the Luangwa River where the hippos wallow and the lions roam. Each tent is specifically located to maximize privacy both in the rooms, bathrooms and on the verandas with comfortable sitting areas and excellent views onto the river. During their stay in South Luangwa guests will enjoy game drives, night drives and walking safaris.

Overnight at Tena Tena – Fully Inclusive.

Day 9 – 12LAKE MALAWI

After breakfast guests depart via scheduled 45 minute flight from Mfuwe Airport to Lilongwe Airport in Malawi. On arrival they will connect to a 2nd scheduled 50 minute flight to Club Makokola Airstrip where they will be met and transferred on a 45 minute road transfer to Pumulani. David Livingstone famously named Lake Malawi “The Lake Of Stars” and for good reason. During the day the light dances across the deep blue water and once the sun has set the stars twinkle brightly both in the sky but also on the lake as the fishermen light up their hurricane lamps for their night on the lake.

Situated on the west side of the Nankumba Peninsula on the southern end of Lake Malawi guests will find Pumulani subtly nestled in the lush hills amongst the trees and craggy outcrops.
