Itinerary

Day 1 | Monday CAPE TOWN to WELLINGTON via CAPE WINELANDS (±115km)

Guests will be picked up from the hotel and head northeast to Wellington, passing through the beautiful Cape Winelands. Dive into the heart of the Winelands with a craft beer tasting (at your own expense) before reaching the charming university town of Stellenbosch. Here, you’ll embark on a walking tour that showcases the town’s historic landmarks and stunning Cape Dutch architecture. Enjoy lunch (at your own expense) near Paarl, then visit Paarl, the third oldest town in South Africa. At Paarl Rock, take a moment to explore the Afrikaanse Taalmonument.

After checking in at the guest house, you’ll have some free time to relax before enjoying drinks and dinner (at your own expense) at one of the guest house’s restaurants.

Overnight at Val du Charron Guest House or similar – Breakfast included.

Day 2 | Tuesday WELLINGTON to OUDTSHOORN via ROUTE 62 (±390km)

Start your day with breakfast before leaving Wellington for Oudtshoorn in the Klein Karoo, traveling through Bainskloof Pass and along Route 62. The Bainskloof Pass, constructed in 1854, is an 18km engineering marvel known as the ‘Gateway to the North’ and is now a national monument offering breathtaking views. Enjoy a delightful cheese and wine pairing, followed by a cellar tour at a winery in the Robertson wine valley, situated along the world’s longest wine route, Route 62. Have lunch on the way (at your own expense). Upon arrival at the guest house, you’ll have the late afternoon and evening free to unwind. Dinner will also be at your own expense.

Overnight at De Zeekoe Guest Farm or similar – Breakfast included.

Day 3 | Wednesday OUDTSHOORN to KNYSNA via CANGO CAVES (approximately 160km)

After enjoying breakfast, guests will head south through the scenic Outeniqua Pass towards Knysna. A stop will be made just outside Oudtshoorn in the Cango Valley to explore the fascinating underground world of the Cango Caves. Once back above ground, visitors will have the chance to tour a nearby ostrich farm and learn about the fascinating ostrich-farming industry. Lunch will be available at the farm’s restaurant (at guests’ own expense). The journey continues southward to Knysna, with a stop in Wilderness for stunning photo opportunities and breathtaking views from the Map of Africa lookout point (weather permitting) before proceeding to Knysna. Dinner will be enjoyed at the boutique hotel (at guests’ own expense).

Overnight at Overmeer Guest House or a similar accommodation – Breakfast included.

Day 4 | Thursday FULL DAY at LEISURE in KNYSNA

After breakfast, guests can spend the day at their leisure or choose from various optional excursions in and around Knysna. One option is to take a ferry to the Featherbed Nature Reserve (at guests’ own expense, including lunch). A local tour guide will share interesting stories about Knysna while guests take in panoramic views from the ferry and a 4WD vehicle. A guided nature walk of 2.2km through the forest and along the coast is also recommended. Guests can enjoy a buffet lunch at a unique outdoor restaurant nestled under a canopy of milkwood trees by the lagoon. After some leisure time, dinner will be available (at guests’ own expense).

Overnight at Overmeer Guest House or a similar accommodation – Breakfast included.

Day 5 | Friday KNYSNA to PORT ELIZABETH via EASTERN GARDEN ROUTE (approximately 260km)

Following an early breakfast, the tour will set off for Port Elizabeth along the beautiful Garden Route. The first stop will be at the Storms River Mouth, where guests can enjoy unique views of the Tsitsikamma from a suspension bridge. Lunch will be available (at guests’ own expense) in the Tsitsikamma Forest area, which is home to ancient trees. The tour will conclude at a hotel in Port Elizabeth.
