Itinerary

Day 1 | Monday JOHANNESBURG to MAKALALI GAME RESERVE via DULLSTROOM (±456km) 

Guests will be picked up from their hotel and head east towards Limpopo, passing through Dullstroom. A lunch stop (at guests’ expense) will be made along the way before arriving at a private game reserve for an exciting guided game drive in an open vehicle. After the drive, guests will return to the lodge for pre-dinner drinks (at their own cost) followed by dinner. 

Overnight at aha Makalali Main Lodge or a similar accommodation – Includes dinner, breakfast, and 2 game drives. 

Day 2 | Tuesday MAKALALI GAME RESERVE to HAZYVIEW via PANORAMA ROUTE (±180km) 

Start the day early with a guided game drive in the bushveld. Guests will enjoy coffee and rusks in the wild before heading back to the lodge for breakfast. 

The journey continues to one of Mpumalanga’s stunning highlights: the Blyde River Canyon and the Three Rondavels. The Panorama Route offers breathtaking views of key attractions, including God’s Window and Bourke’s Luck Potholes. Guests will have lunch (at their own expense) while enjoying the scenic drive. The day concludes with an overnight stay in Hazyview. 

Overnight at ANEW Resort Hazyview or a similar venue – Includes dinner and breakfast. 

Day 3 | Wednesday HAZYVIEW to ESWATINI via KRUGER NATIONAL PARK (±285km) 

After an early breakfast, guests will leave the hotel and make their way to Mpumalanga’s premier destination – Kruger National Park. A closed vehicle game drive provides the opportunity to see the ‘Big 5’ along with other wildlife and plants. 

Lunch (at guests’ expense) will be available during the journey to the Kingdom of Eswatini, entering through the Jeppes Reef border. Guests will arrive at their hotel in the afternoon and enjoy dinner at the lodge. 

Overnight at Mantenga Lodge or a similar property – Includes dinner and breakfast. 

NOTE: Guests must have a valid passport when entering the Kingdom of Eswatini, and multi-entry visa regulations may apply for nationals of certain countries (at their own expense).

Day 4 | Thursday ESWATINI to ST LUCIA (approximately 335km) 

After an early breakfast, travelers will visit the Swazi Candle Factory and Crafts Market. They will then exit Eswatini at the Lavumisa Border post and enter South Africa’s Kwa Zulu-Natal province, known locally as the Elephant Coast. In the late afternoon, guests will arrive at the hotel, where they can freshen up before enjoying pre-dinner drinks and dinner (at their own expense). 

Overnight at Forest Lodge or a similar accommodation – includes breakfast and one game viewing excursion. 

Day 5 | Friday ST LUCIA to DURBAN (approximately 245km) 

Before breakfast, guests will hop onto an open safari vehicle for a game drive through iSimangaliso Wetland Park, South Africa’s first World Heritage Site, often referred to as ‘miracle and wonder’. They will have the chance to see hippos, crocodiles, and a variety of birds during an eco-friendly boat cruise on the lake. 

Guests can enjoy lunch (at their own expense) while taking in the beautiful lake views before heading to the city of Durban or uMhlanga.
