Upon arrival at Bulawayo International Airport, guests will be greeted and transferred by road to Matobo National Park, the oldest national park in Zimbabwe (approximately 1 hour). The Matobo Hills are a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Guests will spend days exploring in the footsteps of Cecil John Rhodes and Mzilikazi, two famous 19th Century men. It is here that the San Bushmen left their inscriptions on the rocks and caves over 2 000 years ago. The granite domes and castle kopjes echo the essence of tranquillity and majesty of untamed Africa, where wildlife and birdlife species thrive in prolific numbers.

Guests can spend the next 2 days exploring all that Amalinda lodge and the Matobo National Park have to offer. Famous for its healthy population of endangered black and white rhino, which guests can track on foot, the area is one of the most sought after destinations in Zimbabwe.
Guests can also experience the history of the city of Bulawayo and Khami Ruins, the capital of the Torwa Dynasty which followed the disappearance of the state of Great Zimbabwe. This exclusive safari lodge is intimate and unique. After breakfast guests will be transferred by road, travelling north to Hwange National Park (approximately 3 hours). Hwange National Park is the largest nature park in Zimbabwe. It is close to the edge of the Kalahari Desert and offers no natural water sources to wildlife. Whilst pans fill up during the rainy season, all waterholes are pumped by lodge operators during the dry season. All Zimbabwe’s specially protected animals are to be found in Hwange and the population of the Cape wild dogs is thought to be of one of the larger surviving groups in Africa today.

Khulu overlooks an ancient riverbed, in today’s terms called a ‘vlei’, known to attract a variety of the greatest wildlife and bird life in Hwange National Park, right on your doorstep. Victoria Falls is located on the border between Zambia and Zimbabwe and is considered to be the world’s largest waterfall due to its width of 1 708m. David Livingstone, the Scottish missionary and explorer, is believed to have been the first European to view Victoria Falls on 16 November 1855, from what is now known as Livingstone Island, one of 2 land masses in the middle of the river, immediately upstream from the falls near the Zambian shore. Livingstone named his sighting in honour of Queen Victoria of Britain.
