Itinerary

DAY 1 ENTEBBE

Upon arrival at Entebbe International Airport, guests will be greeted by a representative from Fundani Tours Uganda and taken to their hotel. The Boma Hotel, Entebbe’s first and most prestigious hotel, is nestled in lush tropical gardens within a serene suburb, just a short drive from the airport. The accommodations blend modern amenities with the unique charm of the original 1940s residence.

Overnight at Boma Guest House – Breakfast.

DAY 2-3 MURCHISON FALLS NATIONAL PARK

After enjoying breakfast, the journey continues to Murchison Falls National Park, approximately a 5-hour drive away. Surrounded by the stunning natural beauty of Murchison Falls and the rich history of the Bunyoro region, Kabalega Wilderness Lodge is perfectly situated next to one of Uganda’s largest natural reserves. The lodge features individual safari cabins spread across 7 acres along the banks of the River Nile.

Named after Omukama (King) Chwa II Kabalega, regarded as one of Uganda’s greatest kings, the lodge pays homage to his legacy and the culture of Bunyoro. Guests can look forward to an evening game drive. The next day will begin with a morning game drive in the park, followed by lunch at the lodge. In the afternoon, guests will enjoy a scenic boat trip on the River Nile, concluding with another game drive.

Overnight at Kabalega Wilderness Lodge – Lunch, dinner, and breakfast.

DAY 4 KIBALE FOREST NATIONAL PARK

After enjoying breakfast, guests will set off early in the morning for a scenic 7-hour drive to Kibale Forest Park. This remarkable park is home to around 13 species of primates, including the Red Colobus, chimpanzees, and L’Hoest’s Monkey, as well as 70 different mammal species. Primate Lodge Kibale is ideally situated deep within the forest, right next to the starting point for chimpanzee tracking adventures. Each of the 9 spacious and en-suite luxury cottages is nestled in the forest, ensuring maximum privacy and a true ‘living in nature’ experience, complete with a large veranda offering stunning views of the surroundings. Dinner will be served at the lodge.

Overnight at Primate Lodge Luxury Cottages – Lunch, dinner, and breakfast included.

DAY 5-6 QUEEN ELIZABETH NATIONAL PARK

Following a briefing, guests will embark on a 2-3 hour chimp tracking adventure in Kibale Forest National Park. Along the way, they may encounter other primates such as Grey-Cheeked Mangabeys, Red Tailed, and Blue monkeys. Knowledgeable guides will share insights about the forest’s diverse flora and fauna, making the hike both educational and enjoyable.

In the afternoon, guests will drive to Queen Elizabeth National Park, which takes about 3 hours, passing by picturesque volcanic crater lakes. On clear days, the breathtaking Rwenzori Mountains, also known as the ‘Mountains of the Moon,’ can be seen. Guests will then have the opportunity to enjoy a late afternoon game drive.

Parkview Safari Lodge, located on the outskirts of Queen Elizabeth National Park, offers panoramic views of the park’s stunning landscapes, capturing its beauty in an unforgettable way. The lodge features a blend of modern and local architectural styles, seamlessly connecting with the wilderness. It embodies true African hospitality, ensuring a comfortable stay for all guests.

The following day, after an early breakfast, enjoy morning game drive in the Queen Elizabeth National Park. In the late afternoon is a boat trip on the Kazinga Channel that is 32km long. This water system has the highest concentration of hippos in the world and we will get quite close to them. Guests can expect to see crocodiles, buffalo and other game that drink from the channel, and also marvel at the abundant birdlife that is supported here.

Overnight at Parkview Safari Lodge – Lunch, dinner, and breakfast.

DAY 7-8 BWINDI IMPENETRABLE NATIONAL PARK

After a hearty breakfast, guests will set off for Four Gorilla Lodge, which is about a 6-hour drive and serves as the starting point for gorilla tracking. Four Gorillas Lodge features 8 spacious and comfortable rooms, creating a warm and inviting atmosphere. The Bwindi Impenetrable National Park (BINP) is home to Colobus Monkeys, chimpanzees, and a variety of bird species. It is particularly famous for housing half of the world’s critically endangered mountain gorilla population.

Following breakfast, guests will begin their gorilla trek. Before 8 AM, they will check in at the ranger station for registration and a briefing from one of the rangers. The guides will then take guests through the forest in search of the gorillas. The trek can last anywhere from 30 minutes to 7 hours, so a good level of fitness and sturdy walking boots are essential. It’s an incredible experience to sit in the lush rainforest with the last remaining mountain gorillas. Guests are allowed to spend one hour with the gorillas before heading back to the base station.

Overnight at Four Gorillas Lodge – Lunch, dinner, and breakfast included.

Day 9DEPARTURE
