Upon arrival in Dar es Salaam, guests will be greeted by a representative from Fundani Tours and taken to the Dar es Salaam Serena Hotel. Known as ‘the residence of peace,’ Dar es Salaam is Tanzania’s largest city and a key economic hub in the region. The rest of the day is free for guests to explore at their leisure.
Mornings at the lively fish market provide a glimpse into the daily fishing activities. The Tinga Tinga art center, renowned as Tanzania’s premier arts cooperative, offers an opportunity to engage with local artists and admire contemporary artworks.

After breakfast, the tour sets off for Mikumi National Park. Guests will enjoy lunch along the way in Morogoro town. Mikumi, which borders the Selous Game Reserve, features landscapes reminiscent of the acacia-studded savannah found in the Serengeti. Local guides often mention that tree-climbing lions are more frequently spotted in Mikumi than in the more famous Manyara National Park. An afternoon game drive awaits guests.
Vuma Hills Tented Camp, situated high in the woodlands overlooking the Mkata Plains, offers a rustic yet comfortable stay just 7km from the main gates of Mikumi Park. After a day of exploration, Vuma Camp provides a refreshing escape from the heat.

Following breakfast, the tour heads to Ruaha National Park, arriving in time for lunch. This park is known for its stunning landscapes, varied ecosystems, and excellent wildlife viewing opportunities. Being remote and less traveled, the 4WD game drives here are particularly rewarding.
Guests will embark on a game drive within the park.

The next couple of days are dedicated to exploring the park, featuring morning and afternoon game drives. Ruaha, named after the Great Ruaha River, stands as one of Tanzania’s largest national parks. Its remote location means that game viewing from 4WD vehicles is particularly fruitful. In the afternoons, guests embark on exciting game drives throughout the park.
The stunning kopje setting of Ruaha River Lodge offers breathtaking views of the park’s rugged plains. The Ruaha River, with its permanent waters, is home to resident hippos and a variety of wildlife that frequently come to drink. The stone and thatch chalets, along with dual dining areas and a cozy sundowner fire pit, create a genuine wilderness atmosphere.

Following breakfast, the journey continues to Udzungwa Mountain National Park, with lunch enjoyed along the way. Udzungwa is the largest and most diverse forest-covered mountain in eastern Tanzania. Part of the Eastern Arc Mountains, this collection of isolated massifs is often referred to as the African Galapagos due to its unique endemic flora and fauna. Guests will find a peaceful retreat at Udzungwa Mountain View Lodge, conveniently located just 15 minutes from picturesque waterfalls and lush forests. Visitors will also have the opportunity to explore the Isimilia Historical site.

Guests will spend a full day in Udzungwa, embarking on a moderate guided trek to the summit of the Sanje Waterfalls. The view from the top is truly breathtaking. The Udzungwa Mountain View Lodge is thoughtfully designed to minimize its impact on the surrounding forest, providing a tranquil escape. Just a short 15-minute walk leads to the Udzungwa Forest and the beautiful waterfalls, where a natural pool offers a refreshing swim.

Following breakfast, the journey to Selous Game Reserve begins, with an arrival timed perfectly for lunch. The Rufiji River is known for its high concentration of wildlife, although the vastness of the reserve means that animal sightings may not be as frequent as in other parts of Tanzania. Upon arrival, guests will be greeted by the camp’s driver-guide and taken to their accommodations.
In the afternoon, visitors will embark on a thrilling game drive.

The next couple of days are dedicated to exploring the Selous, with morning and afternoon game drives planned. In addition to its incredible wildlife, the Selous features expansive grasslands, acacia savannahs, vast wetlands, and miombo woodlands.
Rufiji River Camp, named after Tanzania’s largest river, offers guests the chance to experience river safaris, guided bush walks, fresh produce from local farms, and stunning sunset views from the west-facing rooms.

After breakfast, guests will head to Dar es Salaam, arriving in time for lunch at either Dar es Salaam Serena or Slipway. Following lunch, the group will transfer to a city hotel or the airport for their outbound journey.
